Spring Concert 2026

The orchestra is currently working on the music for its Spring Concert in King’s Court Theatre at King William’s College, Castletown on Saturday March 7th at 7.30pm, conducted by Nigel Harrison.

The concert starts with Beethoven’s Overture to his ballet ‘The Creatures of Prometheus’. After a beautiful slow opening it’s a very spritely piece. This will be followed by the Romanze for Clarinet and Orchestra by Richard Strauss, played by Nigel Harrison - flowing melodies and fast flourishes for the clarinet. Then it’s the turn of the strings, with the beautiful slow movement from Bach’s Double Violin Concerto, with soloists Victoria Hope and Tom Field. Completing the first half will be Mozart’s well known Horn Concerto no.3 (not the one made famous by Flanders and Swan!) with soloist Chris Weeks, our excellent first horn.

The second half starts with a bit more Mozart - the Rondo from his Serenade in D major. We finish the concert with Haydn’s Symphony no.99, first performed in London in 1794 and the first of his symphonies to feature clarinets. So a variety of (mostly) baroque and classical composers, featuring home grown soloists!

Tickets will be available from mid-January.
