Summer Concert 2025

Isle of Man Symphony Orchestra – Summer Concert at Peel Cathedral

Saturday 19th July · 7:30pm

Join the Isle of Man Symphony Orchestra for a captivating evening of music in the stunning setting of Peel Cathedral. Under the baton of conductor Nigel Harrison, and led by Victoria Hope, this summer concert promises a programme of warmth, elegance, and powerful emotion—perfectly suited to a July evening on the Island.

The evening opens with Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll, a tender and intimate work originally composed as a birthday gift for his wife. Filled with lyrical beauty and gentle heroism, it sets the stage for an evening of sublime music-making.

We then welcome soloists Tom Field (violin) and Lucas Hills-Field (viola) for Mozart’s magnificent Sinfonia Concertante, a sparkling and expressive dialogue between two of classical music’s most expressive instruments. The blend of elegance, charm, and poignancy makes this one of Mozart’s most beloved orchestral works.

The second half brings a rare treat: Louise Farrenc’s Symphony No. 3—a bold and richly textured work that deserves its place alongside the great symphonies of the 19th century. Expect driving rhythms, stirring melodies, and powerful orchestral writing from this trailblazing French composer.

Whether you're a seasoned concertgoer or new to orchestral music, this is a summer evening not to be missed. Book your tickets, bring a friend, and experience live music at its most thrilling in one of the Isle of Man’s most beautiful venues.
